Mitchells Mountain Beef

We are a family organization that has been committed to raising quality beef for more than 75 years. The cows spend the winters in the North Thompson Valley and the summers up to 7,000 feet elevation in the surrounding mountain pastures.

Our cattle have always been in high demand and since 1987 we market our calves as hormone and antibiotic free. It seems a logical progression to market them in a manner that reflects the way they are raised. We are listening to an increasing population that wants their beef to be grown in a healthy, natural way.

We are proud to supply beef to our local AG Foods Store, Thompson Rivers University and several restaurants.

NOTE: All beef is grown without added hormones or antibiotics and is dry aged for at least 28 days.

Mountain Pastures Junior Beef

This young animal is raised on mountain vegetation and its mother's milk. Uniquely milder in flavour and lighter in colour, this meat is as tender as grain fed but leaner and healthier.

Grain Fed Beef

This is the meat that most people are accustomed to in taste and texture. The fat is white in colour and there is more marbling content in the meat which gives it lots of flavour and makes for a pleasant eating experience.
Animals are raised on local vegetation and hay or silage, and then fattened with the addition of some grain to their diet for the last 60 to 100 days.

Grass Fed Beef

Enjoy the health benefits of local grass fed beef. Beef provides an excellent source of protein, zinc, vitamin B12 and iron. Grass fed beef also adds the benefit of Omega 3 acids. The fat is slightly more yellow and the meat is rich in flavour and nutrients from their natural environment.
